Compare Gas And Electricity Prices Switch And Save.

When Is The Best Time To Change Gas And Electricity Supplier?

Gas and Electricity

Many people ask when the best time to change electricity supplier is, in my personal opinion there is not a prescribed time to change gas and electricity suppliers. It all boils down to how much each individual is looking to save. Some people change energy suppliers each year whilst others change every 6 months. With that being said it’s very important to check your energy prices regularly otherwise you may end up missing out on the cheap energy deals which could be available.

If you’re looking to save money on your energy bills it’s always advised that you compare your energy prices against what's out there. There are instances when you sign up for the cheapest energy prices for your region and all of a sudden let’s say 6 months down the line another energy provider has come up with a  new and cheaper energy tariff which will mean that your supplier is not the cheapest in your region anymore. This is why it’s a wise idea to always find out whether you’re still with the supplier that has the cheapest energy tariff for your region.

Some others will wait until they receive a huge bill, this is usually a bad idea, why wait until your supplier sends you a huge bill. This could mean that in the meanwhile you could be on the most expensive energy tariff for your region. If this applies to you I’d suggest that you stop waiting until your supplier sends you a big energy bill before you decide to compare energy prices and switch to another cheaper provider.

Other customers may wait until the winter before they decide to compare and switch, the problem with this is they could still be paying high energy prices during the summer. If this is what you do, you should try comparing energy prices during the summer too and find out if there is a cheaper energy supplier that you can switch over to and start getting cheaper energy bills.

If you’ve never compared gas and electricity prices before I can assure you that it is quick and easy and can be completed in a few minutes. It simply involves answering a few questions which will be aimed at helping you find out which of the suppliers is the cheapest in your region.

You’ll also be able to see how much you can expect to save when you switch.  Switching to the cheapest energy provider that you find can also be completed online too and you do not even have to pick up the phone to speak to anyone. If you’re like me I find having to contact a call centre and being put on hold very frustrating and this happens a lot when you call contact centres.

Once you switch to the cheapest energy provider that you'll find today when you compare energy prices, they will contact you and provide you with all the relevant information you’ll need about your energy switch, this includes confirmation of your new and cheap energy tariff, details of when to expect your switch to be completed and the actual dates when you’ll be expected to provide a meter reading.

These meter readings will be used by both your new and old energy supplier.  Your new supplier will use the meter readings to open your new energy account whilst your old supplier uses the readings which will be passed on by your new supplier to close your account and send out your final bill.
